In this dramatic transformation of a small, shallow, semi-detached Victorian house, we excavated a substantial portion for the garden to make space for a two-storey extension made predominantly from floor to ceiling windows along with a full refurbishment inside.
The extension allows Light to pour in to the house from the double height void and, being below ground, privacy is maintained without a loss of splendour. The double-height glass space allows you to overlook a beautiful landscaped garden.
At the beginning of the project we flattened off the rear wall and rebuilt the back of the house in traditional London stock brick. Internally, the house was completely refurbished from top to bottom, implementing a contemporary feel within a traditional envelope. The extension connects the ground open-plan living level of the house to the first floor with a steel staircase.
Throughout the house, the interior has been rethought to give the house a contemporary but traditional feel; creating a striking, unique atmosphere throughout.
